THE
CAREER ASSESSMENT PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS
The
Career Assessment Program is for students who want to gain
a better understanding of how their natural talents and abilities
can help to define a future career.
Assessment helps to increase a students appreciation
for his or her unique personality, style, interests, skills,
and values. Career options are examined within the context
of this knowledge.
The
Career Assessment Program includes three sessions:
First Meeting - 2 hours:
Student meets with career coach to review life experiences
and career beliefs. During the second hour, the student completes
the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which assesses personality
style, and the Strong Interest Inventory, which compares
a students interests to those of professionals in over
100 different occupations. Student is given the Self-Directed
Search, which examines skills and interests, and a review
of accomplishments to complete for the following session.
Second Meeting - 2 hours:
Student meets with career coach to interpret and integrate
the results of all assessments and exercises. Student begins
to research career options.
Third Meeting - 1 hour: Career coach prepares a
written report, summarizing results and recommending career
directions worthy of further exploration. Student and parents
meet with coach to discuss the findings.

RESULTS
Students emerge from the Career Assessment Program with
increased focus and an understanding of how their strengths
can be assets in potential careers. Many parents report
increased motivation in school and enhanced self-esteem as
a result of making this vital link to the future.
